Maxey Community Action Center                             June 2017-July 2017

Administrative Intern Winter Garden, FL

  • Administrative support to anyone who is in need. 

  • I made unlimited copies and fax papers locally and internationally for the community at no cost. 

  • I also provide computer assistance as requested for individuals trying to understand how to use Microsoft word, excel, etc. 

  • In charge of the financial self-sufficiency program (FSSP) which provides equal opportunities for individuals to either go back to school to get their GED or to further their education with federal grants. 

  • LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program) Coordinator who helps low-income families get their light bills paid in a time of need. 


INVOLVEMENT

Members Leadership Program (MLP)  

  • The Member Leadership Spring Program is a one-semester program that helps foster growth, development, and success in order to create principled leaders that will empower our community.

  • This program has given me an opportunity for the mentee/ mentor relationship to guide and help. This program builds a supportive community, creates friendships, and relationships beyond university standings.

  •  This program truly instills what it is to be a leader as it provides an opportunity for growth, elevation, and self-improvement. 

  • MFOS Scholarship Recipient: The Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program supports low-income students who are first in their families to attend college. The University of Florida is committed to financially supporting academically-talented students who might not otherwise attend UF because of financial barriers. The program provides recipients a full grant and scholarship package to earn a bachelor’s degree. The MFOS program has supported approximately 3,900 students in the eleven classes since the program began. Each semester approximately 1200 scholars are enrolled at UF.
