Created my own Virtual Classroom

Image
This classroom is aesthetically but also educationally responsive in many ways. I included color which is the point of interest of most younger students. I also wanted the classroom to be comfortable instead of structured like a traditional classroom. This is why I included a couch, table, and lounge furniture. During the transition from first to second grade, students are aware of their ABCs, numbers and are learning to tell time, which I made sure to reiterate in the classroom. I also added the facial expressions to the board so we can see the mental health of each student and how their day is going before class starts. Also, I included a checklist which is basically the learning objectives of the class. I think mental health is an important aspect of learning at any level. I also added a arts and craft section, which is a way students will express themsel...

Tiana's Introduction

Image
My name is Tiana Brown and I am from Orlando, FL. I was living in Gainesville for the past four years, but I recently moved back to Orlando due to COVID. I am a 4th year African American Studies major with a double minor in innovation and education at the University of Florida. After I graduate, I am undecided if I want to go to UF Law School or to apply for UF Graduate School to pursue my masters. The possible career options I am interested in are becoming a lawyer, teacher, or going into politics, so I plan to either use my major or minor and run with it. Besides education, I am a part of a family of four, my mom, dad, and brother. I am the only girl so of course, I am spoiled rotten, unfortunately. My mom has always been a really great good and also my dad, but I learned a lot of cooking techniques from my mom. So, naturally, I have taken up the hobby of great cooking. This is one of my favorite hobbies because I am a good seasoner when it comes to preparing dishes. One of my favo...

Decision Making Assignment

When I was in high school, I was a part of IB and the AP program. Of course, the work is very challenging because it is set in place to prepare students for high education or college. During my s enior year of high school, my grandma had breast cancer and was in her final stages and I was trying to juggle school work and trying to be there for my family and help in any way that I could. Of course, grieving takes a toll on you as you prepare for a loved one's death, I wasn’t focused mentally in school. However, senior year is the most important and this is the year that you apply for college, army, trade school, and other areas of interest. I battled with the decision of staying in AP classes and taking the easier route to lessen the burden but I decided to stick it out. As my grandma was going through her own situation, she always encouraged me to finish school (graduate with a degree). Most students were prepared and knew exactly what college they wanted to go to and here I w...

Lifeline Assignment

Since I’ve been born an event that has stood out to me was when I was seven, my parents divorced. It was a traumatic adjustment for me to overcome only because all my life I knew was my parents. Throughout elementary, I was always on the honor roll, a straight- A student. The only obstacle I faced in elementary was losing my younger brother to respiratory failure. It was a hard adjustment because I was young and I did not understand how felt to lose such a close sibling when he was only two years old. When I had gotten to middle school, I was accepted into the international baccalaureate and I was literally striving throughout middle school. I was actually in a band which was literally the highlight of middle school for me. I played the flute, piccolo, and clarinet and I was the first chair which is the most talented person in the per section of instruments. Transitioning into high school and more into being independent, I was in IB and throughout hig...
